SynonymsDescendantsAnagramsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In a meeting, two or more people come together to discuss one or more topics, often in a formal setting. DefinitionsAn act or process of coming together as an assembly for a common purpose A meeting is a gathering of two or more people that has been convened for the purpose of achieving a common goal through verbal interaction, such as sharing information or reaching agreement. Meetings may occur face to face or virtually, as mediated by communications technology, such as a telephone conference call, a skyped conference call or a videoconference. Thus, a meeting may be distinguished from other gatherings, such as a chance encounter (not convened), a sports game or a concert (verbal interaction is incidental), a party or the company of friends (no common goal is to be achieved) and a demonstration (whose common goal is achieved mainly through the number of demonstrators present, not verbal interaction). Commercially, the term is used by meeting planners and other meeting professionals to denote an event booked at a hotel, convention center or any other venue dedicated to such gatherings. In this sense, the term meeting covers a lecture (one presentation), seminar (typically several presentations, small audience, one day), conference (mid-size, one or more days), congress (large, several days), exhibition or trade show (with manned stands being visited by passers-by), workshop (smaller, with active participants), training course, team-building session and kick-off event. Q. I've done a lot of graphic design work over the past few years but I primarily deal with my clients either over the phone or through the web (email). I have a client that wants to meet in person in NYC to sit down and discuss a few things about working together. Currently, we spoke about designing 2-4 flyers per week. What should I bring to the meeting? This is my first in-person graphic design meeting. Asked by patel.alay - Sun Apr 25 19:46:26 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Beyond the obvious things like a few samples of your work or business cards, bring questions about the project and a legal pad to write down what they say (typing on a laptop might be too distracting and off-putting). Also, prepare to discuss your process such as providing a contract to the client before you start, the number of concepts and rounds you provide, intellectual property rights (to who do these files belong to in the end) if applicable, etc. You may also want to discuss a retainer fee if the client wants flyer's designed every week. Answered by designerdf - Mon Apr 26 21:11:27 2010 What to include in a three meeting class on photography for senior citizens? Q. I you were to present a three meeting course to senior citizens on how to improve their photography, knowing they would most likely all be rank beginners using just point and shoot cameras and with no desire to ever become pros...what would you teach them? Asked by Perki88 - Mon May 12 18:47:56 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. 1. Frequent bathroom breaks ... 2. A clearly written handout (in large type) 3. And, oh yeah, the basic pointers about how to take decent pix of their grandchildren and pets (with lots of illustrations) Well, yeah ... OK ... I'm kinda kidding here. But ... being a senior citizen myself (just turned 65!), and having taught many, many seminars on the basics of digital photo for seniors and others ... well, all I can say is: have fun with it! I'm serious about the handout, though. Answered by Jim M - Mon May 12 19:22:01 2008 Are there any private investors interested in meeting to invest in our new company?
Q. Our new company has secured partial funding and we are very close to rolling it out. Problem is we lack total funds needed. Angel investor's and VC's have a lengthy narrowing process in place. We are looking for an individual with financial capabilities that can say yes or no after a meeting and due dilligence. We have a strong market test and solid idea that has been rolled out in front of our biggest customers. We just lack enough funding. Time is of the essence.
