From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Prayer is the act of addressing a god or spirit for the purpose of worship or petition. Specific forms of this may include praise, requesting guidance or assistance, confessing sins, as an act of reparation or an expression of one's thoughts and emotions. The words used in prayer may take the form of intercession, a hymn, incantation, words of gratitude, or a spontaneous utterance in the person's praying words. Praying can be done in public, as a group, or in private. Most major religions in the world involve prayer in one way or another in their rituals. Although in many cases the act of prayer is ritualized and must be followed through a sometimes strict sequence of actions (even going as far as restricting who may pray), other religions, mainly the Abrahamic religions, teach that prayer can be done spontaneously by anyone at any moment. Scientific studies regarding the use of prayer have mostly concentrated on its effect on the healing of sick or injured people. The efficacy of petition in prayer for physical healing to a deity has been evaluated in numerous studies, with contradictory results. There has been some criticism of the way the studies were conducted. From Wikipedia under the

Don't post rude comments please. Asked by Animal Explorer - Tue Jun 2 18:07:03 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. "Molting: Most of the time, you will notice when your mantid is near molting. It will stop eating, and seem to ignore prey. That is usually the easiest way to tell when your mantis is about to shed within the next day or 2. It may also strike at the prey, seemingly missing it, but it is only trying to scare off the prey. If this occurs, take any food out of the container, as you don't want anything interrupting your mantids molt. When your mantid starts to shed, do not bother it, don't pick up the container to get a better look, and definitely don't try to assist it. The mantid will shed its skin and sit there hanging for a bit to dry off. Do not feed the mantis for about 24 hours after it molts, but its ok to spray the container as long… [cont.] Answered by Polaris - Tue Jun 2 18:39:28 2009 If I start a praying mantis fighting enterprise, will I get charged like Mike Vick? Q. I want to start a praying mantis fighting enterprise. I am going to train them all like Rocky Balboa. I have one of them right now and I am going to try to find him a mate. There is one that lives up the street in a garden. Do you think people will pay to see praying mantises fight? Asked by No - Mon Sep 3 22:05:07 2007 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments A. First what Michael Vick did is something that isn't remotely funny, your question is funny except that part. Dogs are animals, a praying mantis is an insect so I don't see your punishment being the same. Q. I am a believer in the Miracles of Medjugorje, to anyone familiar. It has been said to me that when you pray, in order to get blessings to yourself, you are to pray for others. What kind of things should I be meditating on when praying the Our Fathers and Hail Marys so it doesn't just feel like empty words? I really want to strengthen my faith and prayer time and get into deeper thought, but its all so repetitive. When dedicating my prayers to other people, what do I ask of God to help them? Asked by Alana C - Wed Aug 26 21:39:49 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Edit Space Monkey is a little confuessed. What she state in Matthew about repetative prayer is not to pray so that you might think that others might think of you as Holy. Jesus himself prayed the same prayer 3 times in Gethsemane.Matthew 26:44. In Revelation the angels do not stop exclaming the name of God Day and Night Revelations 4: 8-11. I pray the rosary daily and it has brought me close to Christ. I recommend any form of meditative prayer. Answered by mike64 - Wed Aug 26 22:41:00 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "praying" |
